The Board of Regents Saturday appointed Duane Acker to be the first NU vice chancellor for agriculture and natural resources. Acker, currently dean of the college of agriculture and biological sciences at South Dakota State University (Brookings), will assume the post April 1, Acker's responsibilities will include the College of Agriculture, the School of Technical Agriculture at Curtis, the cooperative extension service and the agricultural experiment stations. The post was created by the ,1973 Nebraska Legislature in response to criticism by farm organizations that agriculture was not getting enough attention at NU.
