But some confusion exists as to whether the communications program is effective, regardless whether its name is old or new. Tcdd f "cDsrsie!, coordinator of th8 ASUN program, recently has been named chairman of tha Union Program Council's communications committea. So he has changed the name of the ASUN organization, and will use the group to distribute both ASUN and Union news, he said. The liaison program attempts to place a student "liaison" on every floor in the dormitories, Greek houses and campus' cooperatives. At floor and house meetings, the "liaison" relays information about campus activities, primarily those of ASUN. "Now it will be called the University Liaison Program," McDaniel said. College advisory boards have been asked to use the liaisons as a communications media, he said. When the Daily Nebraska! contacted residences to inquire about the effect of liaisons, divided opinions about the program were expressed. "The liaison program has totally zeroed in this complex," said Georgia Glass, residence director for the Neihardt Residential Center. "Nobody wants to be one." . Beth Popken, head resident in International House, agreed. "I brought it up at our council meeting, and both SA's mentioned it at their floor meetings, but nobody volunteered. Everybody here feels ASUN is ineffectual 1 and no one wants to be part of it," she said. McDaniel said that he is "having some problems" in getting his group organized this semester and "finding enough staff." But those coordinators and liaisons he has contact with are "really enthused," he said. Steven Heldt, residence director at Harper Hall, said the liaisons "did a good job of publicizing the ASUN book exchange." Most Greek houses indicated the liaisons were an important source of information about campus activities. The ASUN Legislative Liaison Committee will hold a meeting today at 9 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. The committer currently is working on campaigns to support two legislative bills, concerning a student regent and alcohol consumption on The Nebraska Linguistic Circle will hold a luncheon meeting today at 12:30 p.m. in Andrews 37. Prof. Bela Levai will discuss noun-verb agreement in the Hungarian language.
