'Beleaguered' Nixon gains public support It was only a matter of time, of course, before the current Nebraska Support the President Committee was organized. The vast majority of Nebraska citizens were not about to idly sit by while such motley groups as the Coalition for Impeachment (in Lincoln led by such unsavory characters as J.J. Plant, an on-again, off-again UNL student, self-styled lobbyist and chronic campaigner for elective office) monopolize the media. The pro-Nixon group, originally formed in a commendable effort to foster cooperation and compliance with the President's energy policies, now is coming to the aid of the beleaguered man in the White House by sponsoring a full-page advertisement in Sunday's Omaha World-Herald. More than 1,000 Nebraskans are expected to lend their names to this ambitious and noteworthy projects. The ad, unlike many others that have appeared around the country on the same subject, signifies citizen politics at its best. r: i k i ... . i nzza equals iNuumon Judging by the strictest standards. Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA), pizza is nutritious. One (5.3 oz.) Each person whose name appears on the ad is contributing $2 out of his or her pocket to take a cause they believe in to the people. It also should be noted that one of the committee's co-chairmen is Dave Morrison, a UNL senior. Thus, the group has critical student input. In a related development, State Sen. Richard Proud of Omaha appears to be considering the submission of 3 resolution, in his words, "expressing confidence in the President," once the legislature reconvenes next month. The Unicameral's speaker is growing weary of the constant negative harping, to the point where the Nixon Administration's numerous accomplishmentsmore equitable farm prices, a restoration of balance to the Supreme Court, slowdown in crime, end of the Vietnam conflict and return of the POWs, termination of the draft, arms control talks and the bettering of relations with both the USSR and China, the lowest peacetime unemployment in over a decade, improvement of the natural environment, concrete steps towards solving the energy crisis and much more-are being obscured. And from this chart, researched and prepared by a leading nutritionist, you'll see that even though a slice of pizza supplies 45 of the needed protein for an adult male, it only supplies 12.9 of the calories. The data was compiled by Ms. Ellen Semrow, Director of Nutrition Education for the American Institute of Baking. Other comments by authorities in the field: "A pizza is pretty nutritious-better than an apple by a long way,"-Nutritional Director, Federal Department of Agriculture. "Pizza is a good, nutritious breakfast . . . Eating the right nutrients is much more important than eating certain stereotyped foods."-Marprie Stevenson, Nutrition Specialist, University of Nevada. Why is pizza so good for you? Simply because a quality pizza with your favorite meat topping contains items from the four basic food groups: grains, dairy products, vegetables and meats. To make your pizza an even more nutritious meal, you can accompany it with a fresh green salad or top it off with a continental desert of fresh fruit. Besides, dollar for dollar, pizza is one of the best nutrition buys. i I I B 1 g i 464-8328 360 No. 48th One coupon per customer COUPON EXPIRES DEC. 12 THIS COUPON GOOD FOR 500 TOWARDS PURCHASE OF ANY SANDWICH, SPAGHETTI ORDERS, LASAGNE ORDERS, SALAD, BUNCH OF LUNCHfPIZZA, GARLIC ROLLS OR CHILI ORDERS AT SHAKEY'S.
