So wet miinist to perform With Lincoln Symphony

One of the Soviet Union's premier violinists will
perform with the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra
Tuesday.
Viktor Tretyakov is one of the champion
virtuosos in the U.S.S.R. He is also one of the
youngest violinists ever to achieve world prominence.
His first major triumph as a musician came in
1966, when Tretyakov was 20. He entered the Third
International Tchaikovsky Competition, in Moscow.
Hundreds of others competed against him before a
panel of judges. Tretyakov won first prize.
Violinist David Oistrakh, head of the international
p?nel of judges, said Tretyakov's, instrumental
command and attractive temperament established
him as a leader in the early rounds.
Tretyakov has since toured Italy, Germany,
Portugal, Austria, Holland, England, Japan, Finland,
the U.S. and much of South America.
He performed with the French National Orchest J
under the direction of Jean Martinon in Carmgic
Hall. He also performed as guest soloist with tfv.
Philadelphia Orchestra and Eugene Ormandy, the
Houston Symphony and the Toledo Symphony.
Later this year and early next year he will appear
as '-ist with the Leningrad Philharmonic in concert
in ,veu York City and Washington, D.C.
He was born ;n Siberia into a family of musician;
He b.?gan his musical studies at the Irkutsk
Conservatory. He was good enough to enter Moscow':;
Central Music School, and later the Moscow
Conservatory, from which he graduated with honor:
In addition to his work with the violin, he plays
piano and is fond of painting and literature.
