Despite the youth in the Jayhawk defensive secondary,
Kansas is starting three sophomores and a senior, the Jayhawks
lead the league in interceptions with 15.
Offensively, the Huskets are lead by another David, but his
last name is Humm. Humm is the conference's second leading
passer, having completed 63 of 98 passes for a total of 895
yards. He has thrown four interceptions but he also has seven
touchdown passes.
Humm is the conference leader in total offense. He has a
combined rushing and passing game average of 226.5 yards a
game.
Other Huskers ranking high in this week's Big 8 statistics
are l-back Tony Davis, split end Frosty Anderson, wingback
Ritch Bahe and cornerback Randy Borg.
Davis is the league's fifth leading rusher with 501 yards in
112 carries and he is the conference's fifth leading scorer with
36 points.
Despite a dislocated shoulder which will keep him out of
three games, Anderson is the Big Eight's second leading
receiver with 20 catches for 367 yards and six touchdowns.
Bahe is the fifth leading receiver with 14 catches for 221 yards
and one touchdown.
Borg is the conference's third leading punt returner as he
has returned 20 punts for 202 yards, an average of 10.1 yards
a return.
Nebraska leads the series with Kansas (55-21-3). Last year
in Lawrence, Kan., the Huskers romped over the Jayhawks
560.
