According to Hewlett and Long's proposal, the council would "provide more continuity, make possible long-ranje planning... and provide better coordination of scheduliig publicity." Student board member Dave Pankonin commented that the proposal might increase efficiency at the cost of learning experiences of students involved in the 16 programming committees. He said present programming committees allow a student with an idea to present it and become involved with a committee to pursue hii idea. He said the structure of the proposed council might discourage students from initiating individual ideal In fincil 'or' a bjncss, examination of groups eligible to use Union services was brought up by Bennett for discussion. Bennett said a "pressin ; economic situation is forcing the Union to respond to the available dollar." Now only student, faculty and administrative groups or events arising out of these groups ate eligible to use the Union. Bennett said eligibility might have to be expanded to meet financial needs.
