Hoeger: senators may begin offensive ASUN senators will take t)eer and pizza in hand Wednesday evening and give some sober reflection to the current status of their organization. At a "retreat" meeting, which will be preceeded by a short business meeting, the senators will "sit down and talk about what ml ASUN should be, what it could be," according to tirst vice president Mark Hoeger. Hoeger acknowledged that the incentive for the meeting came from a number of senators in the legislative programs committee. "As the editorial in the Daily Nebraskan pointed out, we have been busy taking care of (business) that has been coming to us. It is time to drop this reactionary attitude in favor of taking the offensive," Hoeger said. The meeting will be held at the Chateau Apartments, 61st and Vine Sts., at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public. Hoeger said he intends to emphasize at the meeting the role of the senator in relation to ASUN. Although he said he will not propose any definite action the senate could take, he said he will urge the senators to come to an understanding that "work is not done in the senate meetings, but rather by going out and doing some legwork." By reflecting upon what action has been taken in the past by ASUN, he said he hoped the senators will see how they might accomplish something this year. The issue of providing books for organizations on campus has been postponed until the following Wednesday, he said, because some student discussion is expected and the senate wanted to assure that the meeting could be held on campus. Sen. Brian Waid will introduce for the senate's consideration Wednesday a resolution which proposes that ASUN check with the lib) ary system "to insure that each book or magazine ordered is.. .unavailable at the UNL Library." The economy and consumers may be the topic of a conference on campus this spring if project support can be found, according to Fiee University Chairman Dave Howlett. Howlett said he envisions student, faculty and community participation in the piojoct. He has contacted the Common CauM; consumer group and members of the Consumot Management Department of the university to see if interest in such a conference topic exists. Human Potentials Series to include Wichita yogi A last minute addition to the Union's Human Potentials Series of speakers is a yogi who will talk about 'The New Renaissance Man" at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Nebraska Union Ballroom. Yogi Acaiya Yatiishvaran Avadheta, known to friends and followers as Dadajii, is secretary of the North American Sector of Ananda Marga Yoga Society. Dadajii, headquartered in Wichita, will be in Lincoln this week and has offered to contribute to the Human Potentials Series. According to David Wilson, member of the local Ananda Marga Yoga Society, the society's purpose is to teach and practice yoga as a way of life.
