ENTERPRISES 118 N. 14th The Waverly, Superior Street and Cornhusker Hwy. eastbound ramps leading to Interstate 80 will be closed for about an hour following UNL home football games this fall, the State Roads Department has reported. The ramps will be closed temporarily because of traffic congestion and the possibility of accidents, the department said. The Eastbound ramps U.S. 77, Lincoln Municipal Airport and downtown Lincoln 10th St. entrances will remain open. All westbound entrances will remain open. State Engineer Thomas Doyle said there are several non-Interstate alternate routes to return to Omaha from Lincoln. He urged motorists to consider using one of the alternates. He said a serious problem results when heavy traffic at the three interchanges attempts to merge with the congested flow of traffic from the more centrally located interchanges. Closing of eastbound ramps to the interstate is a safety measure that has been utilized the past few years, Doyle said.
