UCLA tickets -
Members of Tassels and
Corn Cobs, student pep
organizations, will conduct a
"Husker Cheer" contest this
month to help head football
coach Tom Osborne and the
1973 team get off to a good
start.
The person who submits the
winning "Husker Cheer" will
receive a pair of tickets to the
UCLA game Sept. 8. The prize
tickets will be in the student
pep section.
"When Bob Devaney came
to Nebraska in 1962, someone
coined the phrase, "Get off
your fanny and help Bob
Devaney," Mack Rasmussen,
Corn Cobs pep rally committee
chairman, said.
"We hope that the winning
cheer in this contest, referring
either to coach Osborne or the
team, will become a regular
feature at future football
garr es," he added.
All cheers should be short
and simple. Any football fan is
eligible to enter. All entries
must be received by Friday.
They should be sent to: Husker
Cheer Contest, co Corn Cobs
and Tassels, Union.
Entries will be judged by
the Pep Rally Committee. The
winning author and cheer will
be announced at the "World's
Largest Pep Rally" at 4:30
p.m. Sept. 7, in Memorial
Stadium. A portion of the pep
rally will be televised by
ABC-TV in connection with
coverage of the UCLA
Nebraska game the next day.
