The Lincoln Police Department, 550 So. 9th, had made available a summary of bicycle laws for Lincoln' and a map of suggested bike routes. The following information was obtained from that summary. It is unlawful to operate a bicycle on public streets without having it registered and a license visibly displayed. The license is issued on a bi-annual basis, renewable on or before January 1 of each odd numbered year. It must be affixed to the bicycle. Licenses can be obtained at any fire station between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., except Sunday. Licenses cost fifty cents. Every bicycle must be equipped with adequate brakes and a red reflector not less than two inches in diameter. Bicycles also must have a whitish light when operated within the city between one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise. Bicyclists must yield to all vehicles when entering a street and to all pedestrians upon entering a sidewalk. It is unlawful to ride a bicycle on the sidewalks within the area from M to Q Streets and 10th to 10th Streets. Bicyclists should ride as near to the curb on the right hand side of the roadway as possible. They also should ride in single file. It is unlawful to ride double unless the bicycle is constructed to carry more than one person. It also is unlawful to carry any package, bundle or article which prevents the rider from keeping both hands on the handlebars. I ' 1 "1 ? 1 1 - ' - " " 1 MM Hooks for Money Money for Book- 1 1 moil.
