The Walk, a project run by UNL students for the past three years to raise money for local and international development projects, is sponsored by the American Freedom from , Hunger Foundation (AFFHF), an organization that initiates social and economic development programs throughout the world. The AFFHF is sponsoring the National Fast for Unity from Friday evening, Aug. 24 to Sunday afternoon, Aug. 26. The fast, the first of its kind wilfsdraw representatives from the nation's Indian tribes, minority and social action groups, welfare rights groups, civil rights groups and Appalachian groups to the Indian reservation in Winnebago, Neb. They will meet to fast and to discuss issues ranging from the situation of the American Indian in the United States to redevelopment of drought-stricken West Africa, and propose solutions to these problems. The fast offers the chance to engage in a cross-cultural event, learn more about conditions of social injustice and poverty, and what can be done about them, according to Student Volunteer Services. While other cultural awareness programs presented by various ethnic student groups took place on campus, the National Fast for Unity will take place at the reservation. If you want to participate in the fast and the discussion, contact Lynn Silhasek, rm. 200 Union. (472-2486). 1 game 2 game 3 game 10 game 25 game ATTENTION N.U. STUDENTS HAVE A BALL!! Students, faculty and staff will be able to determine their alcohol quotient (AQ) on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The Lincoln Alcohol Safety Action Project will have a display in the Union from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on these days. The machine (above) can approximate the amount of alcohol needed to legally impair a person. The machine works with a number of variables, blood I volume being most important, to determine the number of drinks needed for alcohol in the blood to reach one-tenth of one per cent. A driver is considered legally intoxicated at the one-tenth per cent mark in Nebraska. Jack Merritt, public information coordinator for the project, said the AQ machine attempts to show people individually how many drinks it takes to reach the one-tenth per cent level.
