The Student Volunteer
Service (SVS) needs students
for summer volunteer projects.
Many of the projects require a
commitment of only two to
four hours a week, according
to Lynn Silhasek, SVS public
relations coordinator.
Silhasek said they had 184
volunteers during the past year
and worked with 49
community projects.
The Volunteer Service can
provide transportation for a
few volunteers, Silhasek said.
The Student Volunteer Service
is located in Rm. 200 Union
(472-2486).
Some of the summer
programs are:
COUNTY EXTENSION
NUTRITION TRAINING
Volunteers will learn about
nutrition and help teach
children nutrition.
MALONE COMMUNITY

transport members of the
Senior Citizen Club from
Lancaster Manor to Malone

Civilisation' at Sheldon
"Civilisation", Kenneth
Clark's award-winning film
series on the history of Western
civilization will be shown at
Sheldon Art Gallery again this
summer. The series of 13 one
hour color films traces the
development of Western
civilization from the Dark Ages
to the present day.
The films, which will begin
tomorrow, are free. Each
week's program will be shown
twice, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Two
parts of the series will appear
in each program in a double
feature foremat with a short
intermission between films.
One reviewer says, "Clark
shows us not only the men
who gave new energy to
civilisation and expanded our
understanding of the world and
ourselves, but also the works of
genius, in architecture,
sculpture, and painting, and in
philosophy, poetry, and music,
in science and engineering,
which they produced."
