The award is presented annually by J. Gordon Roberts and the Roberts Dairy Co., to the Husker senior "who best exemplifies courage and determination despite all odds in the manner of Nebraska all-American center Tom Novak." Novak was an all-American center for the Cornhuskers in 1949. The Novak Trophy will be another on a list of awards Glover has received during his long career at Nebraska. Glover already has won the Outland Trophy from the Football Writers Association of America and the Lombardi Trophy. Both trophies are awarded to the outstanding college football lineman in the nation. Glover, who was drafted by the New York Giants professional football team, led the Cornhuskers in tackles last season. He had 100 during 11 regular season games. During his career, Glover threw ball carriers for 27 losses, totalling 131 yards. Former Nebraska coach Bob Devaney spoke highly of Glover. "Rich Glover is the greatest defensive lineman I've ever seen," Devaney said. "We took him (Glover) for granted some times because he never had a bad game. He always played from great to super and forced other teams to do things they wouldn't ordinarily do." A physical education major in Teachers College, Glover spent last summer working in the mayor's youth program in Jersey City, N.J. nion PJI records must bo rofur by Wednesday, May 9 or UnhcrsiSy registration will be cancelled. Room 237, Nebraska Union, Monday through Friday 1:30-4:00 Golfers win Drake tourny Fresh from winning last week's Drake Relays Invitational Golf Tournament, UNL'sgolf team will enter the Northern Intercollegiate at Bloomington, Ind., Saturday and Sunday. The Northern Intercollegiate will include 15 teams, all the Big Ten schools except Northwestern; plus Ball State, Notre Dame, Miami (Ohio), Miami (Fla), Ohio University and Nebraska. Husker coach Larry Romjue said the Drake win was the first major tournament win for Nebraska in some time. "We won the Big Six in 1938, but outside of that, I can't remember Nebraska winning any other major tournaments," Romjue said. "We did wintheFallBig Eight -meet in 1971, but that didn't include Oklahoma State and Colorado. They had Arkansas and Colorado State instead, so Drake was the biggest win we've had by far." In the Drake meet, Nebraska recovered from a six-stroke deficit after the first round to win by three-strokes over Wichita State. Rick Schultz was the top individual golfer for the Huskers. He tied for third place. Schultz shot an opening round 81 and a final round 76. Romjue said he plans to take Schultz, Dan Bahensky, Steve King, Bob Meyer, Larry Schmidt and Gary Teel to Bloomington. "King, Schultz and Bahensky have been carrying the team," Romjue said. "If we get help from our other players, we're usually in pretty good shape. But we have to depend on those three (King, Schultz and Bahensky) all the time." Romjue said that the Northern Intercollegiate is one of the best and most important tournaments the Huskers will play this season. "The Northern Intercollegiate is a pretty big tournament," he said. "The winner of it usually gets an invitation to the NCAA tournament if he doesn't win his conference title it's that good of a tournament" This weekend's tournament will be the last for the Husker golfers before the Big Eight meet at Manhattan, Kans., May 18 and 19.
