ASK which stands for the Associated Students Koop is a buyers co-op open to any member
(Student, staff, or faculty) of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. It was initiated by members
of ASUN but is incorporated sepsratly as .a non-profit corporation.
WHAT DOES IT DO?

Basically, the idea behind the Ko-op is this. Membership cards with your name, picture,
birthdate, social security number, and signature are made available by ASK and this card
enables you to receive discounted prices at participating downtown stores. In addition, ASK
cards may be used as valid ID's for check cashing and to prove your age (for this reason we
ask you to bring two forms of identification when you purchase your card).
WHAT'S IN IT FOR RETAIL STORES?
Certain downtown stores who are particularly interested in students at the University of
Nebraska have agreed to offer discounts to members of ASK and these in turn will obviously
patronize their stores. By increasing sales these merchants will be able to sell at a lower
profit, passing these savings on yo ASK members.
WHO RUNS ASK?
The operation of ASK is goverened by a Board of Dirertors consisting of 15 students at the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Members on the board are elected annually by the ASUN
Senate so any interested students may apply to be a board member of ASK.
WHERE DOES THE $5.00 FEE GO?
As stated before ASK is a non-profit corporation which operates autonomously from ASUN,
so you don't have to worry about this fee going into someone elese pocket or to finance some
student government project. ASK has incurred initial expenses such as the purchase of a poloroid
I. D. machine, supplies and incorporation costs which will be covered by your membership fee.
In addition, salaries for sales manager, machine operator, typist, and accountant will also be
incurred, not to mention advertising costs.

In addition to the above stores the sales manager for ASK will be continually working to bring more retail
stores into ASK so the value of your card will increase. Updated lists of participating stores will be made
available when you purchase your membership cards and also in advertisements.
