Chile socialism, federal tax programs scheduled Two special programs one on federal taxes and the other on socialism in Chile are scheduled for this week at UNL. John F. Nolan, former deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Treasurer, will speak at the 10th annual Great Plains Federal Tax Institute Monday and Tuesday at the Nebraska Center for Continuing Education. Nolan will talk about tax reform. On Thursday, Markos J. Mamalakis, a specialist on the economy of Latin America, will discuss Chilean President Salvador Allende's road to socialism. The lecture will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. The program is sponsored by the Economics Department and the Institute of International Studies. Mamalakis is an economics professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is the author of several books. Singers plan traditional concerts The University Singers will present its traditional Christmas carol concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ. The Singers will be directed by Earl Jenkins and are accompanied by Margaret Emmons, a junior from Hastings. The Brass Choir and Brass Ensemble are scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Thursday in Kimball Music Hall. That group is conducted by Jack Snider.
