Sky show
celebrates
Halloween
Witches and goblins ride to
"The Hall of the Mountain
Kings" in the "Halloween
Night" sky show at the Ralph
Mueller Planetarium, to be
presented this weekend.
Jack Dunn, the Planetarium
coordinator, has put together
an entertaining show about the
night when, according to
tradition, all the evil spirits in
the world are free to range far
and wide, taking what
unfortunate humans they find
to a dark destiny.
In a preview, witches rode
the skies, the stars whirled
around theheavens.Martians in
flying saucers swirled down,
thunderstorms wrecked the sky
and giant spiders and dinosaurs
rose from a cauldron to do dire
deeds.
The special show, about
30-minutes long, will be shown
on Sunday at 2, 2:40, 3:20,
and 4 p.m. and Monday and
Tuesday, at 4 p.m.
The Mueller Planetarium,
located in the Nebraska State
Museum, was a gift to the
University from Ralph Mueller,
an NU graduate,
A new sound system
installed last year provides a
better sound track with stereo
and five speakers, Dunn said.
He said the new system allows
bigger and better
thunderstorms, which have
been so realistic as to frighten
some youngsters in the
audience.
