'nauseating' artwork
A disputover,A.43kaeOf artwork in the Nebraska Union
Crib apparently has been resolved by moving it.
According to Art Thompson, assistant Union program
manager, a student, John Olig, complained that the piece of
art in the northwest corner of the south Crib was nauseating
and he wanted it taken down.
However, the Art Department, which supplies the pictures
as a service to the Union, said if it was taken down, other
pieces in the Union would go with it.
Thompson said the problem was solved by moving the
picture.
Olig complained because he and some other friends
habitually sit in the corner of the crib where the art was hung.
Thompson explained that the art pieces in the Crib are
provided "with an educational purpose in mind. The idea was
to expose students to different types of artwork."
The art department, he said, objected to removing the
picture because the department opposed any form of
censorship of its selections.
The work was done by Dennis Kuronen, a graduate art
student, who Art Department chairman Robert Spense
described as one of his best students.
"It's sort of funny," Kuronen said upon learning the
reaction to his creation. "Art history is filled with incidents
with people being outraged over a piece of art, but that sort of

Numerous UNL students' complaints about
tenant-landlord relations in Lincoln have
prompted a special meeting of the ASUN Legal
Rights Committee at 7 p.m, tonight in the
Nebraska Union, according to Chairman Frosty
Anderson.
At least 12 students have complained about
relations with one landlord during the past
week, according to UNL Ombudsman James
Suter.
"The charges have run the gamut from
failure to return damage deposits to an
insufficient fund check." He added that
between $75 and $100 usually is involved in
each case.
"The number of responses (to a Daily
Nebraskan announcement to call Suter about
problems with landlords) is indicative that
something may be wrong," Suter said.
Tonight's meeting is "to bring together
students who believe they have a basis for
