Zumberge panel will emphasize communication The six members of the ASUN president's recently-formed student cabinet will serve as the initial members of the "Chancellor's Round Table" ASUN president Bruce Beecher said Wednesday. UNL Chancellor James H. Zumberge announced at a Residence Hall Association meeting Sept. 14 that he was starting the group in an effort toward better communication between himself and students. The Chancellor originally had said the group was more for his benefit than the students'. Wednesday he said this was because no matter how diverse and representative the round table is, it's presumptuous to think he is communicating with the student body through such a small group. "I want to find out what problems exist in the student body at all levels," he said. The meetings, when they start, will be a "free and open discussion," completely informal and unstructured, he said. Zumberge said the idea for his "round table", came from a similar group he had when he was president of Grand Valley State College in Michigan. It worked well, he said, and he found "students liked the idea of getting information from as high a level as possible." -j ombudsman 472-3633 JFeel like today, but look like Grandma in traditional antique or white lace and embroidery.
