The girls plan their own meals, clean house and set up scneauies 10 manage tneir time. The emphasis of the program is on group living and rapport, according to Mary Whan, project director. Whan said the concept of the project is to grade students on how they manage their own home, and to see how they react when living with other students. The program began in the 1930's as a test for student management skills. In the early years of the program, students took care of babies. Legal complications put a stop to that part of the project. Most of the girls live in the two laboratory apartments set up for the class. However, married students and others who choose may live elsewhere and take part in the lab only during the day.
