Still, absenteeism has not paralyzed the chamber; business somehow gets done. But there has been an increase in early adjournments, more recesses during the day because no one can be found to talk and a greater tendency by more and more members to head for home despite the fact that important roll calls have been scheduled. To the much-criticized Presidential candidates, missing roll calls is no casual matter, though it was an unavoidable part of the political game. (Newsweek Feature Service) The Veterans Administration (VA) has suggested that student veterans check back with the University to make certain their certificates . foe educational assistance have been forwarded to the VA. This, according to Director Harry Piper, will help avoid delays in receiving monthly educational allowances. Veterans who returned to UNL this year need not re-apply for another certificate, he said. Those who have changed schools, or whose eudcational objectives within the same school have changed, must get VA approval he said. " If that sounds familiar, then curl up in front of your crystal sets, my little chickadees. Fibber Magee and Molly have returned-and the Shadow is not far behind. Lincoln radio station KWHG (102 FM) has brought back the old days of radio. Fibber Magee and Molly, a situation comedy, airs at 10:30 p.m. Tuesdays. The Shadow, a suspense drama, premiers Thursday at 10:30 p.m. The shows only recently have been syndicated for airing in the Midwest, according to KWHG owner Jim Kamas. In order to make the recordings available, special equipment had to be developed to lift the recording off the original discs made in the 1930's and 40's. Shows then were put on master tapes and duplications made. 'The shows were done live, so there are odds and ends of beeps and squeaks that get in from live shows. It's not as if they could cut and start over again," Kamas said. In Thursday night's opening adventure, the Shadow (Lamont Cranston) and his friend Margo celebrate the Chinese New Year with Johnny Lee and find that money, as the saying goes, really is the root of all evil. So curl up and join them in laughter and in battling evil doers every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:30 p.m. on KWHG. Get the picture?
