No quorum . forces business postponement The Residence Hall Association (RHA) Council Thursday tabled a motion to select a faculty adviser due to lack of a quorum. A decision on whether religious groups be allowed to take surveys in dorm rooms was also tabled. Dave Zink of The Navigators, a campus religious group, presented the results of a survey on Christ and Bible study made recently in four dorms. Zink asked RHA for written permission to conduct the survey as requested by Abel-South resident director Greg Snodgrass. Ken Swerdlow, assistant director of housing, was interviewed for the faculty adviser position. Having served three weeks at UNL, Swerdlow was formerly program adviser at the University of Wisconsin and head counselor at Indiana University. When questioned about the importance of RHA, Swerdlow said: "I think the voice of the students that you bring to us is very important. I see many personal advantages as an RHA adviser in learning what the students are all about-what their goals are and what their needs are." A quorum of 16 is needed to vote on motions. Thirteen members were present. Unrepresented dorms included Selleck Quadrangle, Abel-Sandoz, Burr West, Women's Residence Hall and Centennial College. A committee on RHA constitutional revision was formed on the request of Harper-Schramm-Smith representatives. The next meeting will be an informal discussion with Chancellor James Zumberge. y eilPBl liesilii UNL plans no married housing Hi TEL: 434-7421 1, Board of Regents President Ed Schwartzkopf said earlier this week that the University has no plans to construct married student housing on its own this year, but will rely on private investors to do so. Acknowledging that something has to be done to help alleviate the housing shortage in Lincoln, Schwartzkopf said he expects private developments to reduce housing market pressures. Private investors, through the board, announced plans for new married student developments during the summer. nthpr nlans for student housing, in the neighborhood of 96 to 120 units, are in the works, he said. Schwartzkopf added that he wasn't at liberty to be any more specific. He said he doesn't view solving the housing shortage as only a University problem. He said he is currently opposed to having the University haphazardly build a small number of units. Schwartzkopf, noting that 1800 building permits were issued in Lincoln during the first six months of the year, said natural growth in the number of apartment units should help the shortage. ;ctcr Sellers as Albert T Hoplnaget, .j...tf Astminisitator. in nusf"' vTJfosreBess HKartr c .
