Three-weeks of concentration in music, art, dance and
speech for 278 All-Staters will end with final performances
this week.
The All-State band will present its final concert today at
7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall.
The All-State orchestra, chorus and dancers will join in
concert Tuesday evening with the presentation of 'The
Mayflower," a dance-drama. According to Mrs. Marie
Sanwick, dance instructor, the performance tells the story
of the small band of Pilgrims who landed at Plymouth
Rock.
The musical score was written by Robert Beadell,
professor of theory and composition at the School of
Music. William Wallis, English instructor, wrote the libretto.
The sets were designed by Dean Tschetter, who has created
sets for many University productions. Mrs. Sanwick
choreographed the show.
"The Mayflower" will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball
Recital Hall.
All-State speech students will present final debates at
10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Temple Building. A final recital
for string players is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday in
Kimball Recital Hall.
Instead of the traditional final banquet, families of
All-Staters will be guests at dinner and a reception at Abel
Hall Thursday evening. Work of All-State art students will
be on display there.
At 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Sheldon Sculpture
Garden, the All-State band, chorus, orchestra and dancers
will present an outdoor concert.
The orchestra and chorus presented a final concert
Sunday afternoon.
