Anthro class tours plains
The teachers will be Indians, the students will be young
people interested in anthropology, and the classroom will be
the Indian reservations of the Great Plains.
The course is Anthropology 254 which was developed
through the efforts of Bruce La Brack, instructor in
anthropology, and the UNL administration.
On the morning of May 22. La Brack and a small group of
UNL students will climb aboard a bus and begin "a five-week
comparative study of contemporary Indian populations"
which will take them through six states and over 3.500 miles,
according to La Brack.
He said the six credit hour course will focus on two primary
areas: "ecological settings and differential cultural responses"
and "ethnohistorical background and the effects and extent of
culture change." La Brack stressed that Indians would do the
talking and students would do the listening.
La Brack mentioned that there are still a few spaces
