Berkheim: 'stop parochial thinking'
"We've got to get ourselves together. We've
got to stop parochial thinking like 'Go Big Red,
I'm a Cornhusker Tribalism or communal
living is where it's really at. The answer lies in
eating, listening to music, talking and getting
high together." Dennis Berkheim, World in
Revolution Conference chairman and UNL
senior, told 100 students Monday in a rap
session that concfuJed the conference on
Justice in America.
After a week-long discussion on oppression.
injustice and revolution, the two hour rap
session centered on the outcome and
application of the World in Revolution
Conference.
Berkheim, . DeOe Ford and John
Sinclair, founder of the Rainbow People's
Party, were all positive about the future.
In two months. Sinclair said, he expects a lot
of action to be going on in Lincoln. "You have
to live in a community to do anything for it. I
hope this conference will be a catalyst"
. "In Kansas City, Omaha and all over the
country, brothers and sisters are breaking down
classifications and cooperating with themselves
and others," Berkheim commented.
Berkheim, Sinclair and Ford all stressed the
need for marijuana.
"I've been smoking reefers for 24 years. It's
a way of life," Ford said.
Sinclair mentioned that weed was important
to the Rainbow community. - - J
