Duane Hutchinson, pastor of United Methodist Student Chapel, will speak at a 12:30 p.m. orientation session. Hutchinson is a former president of the Lincoln adult chapter of the United Nations Association. Committee meetings will begin at 1 p.m. and are open to anyone wanting to observe, according to Terry Kubicek, committee chairman. "These committees are designed as filters for all resolutions going to the General Assembly" which meets Friday at 12:30 p.m. and Saturday at 8:30 a.m., he said. Close to 70 countries will be represented. "The resolutions concern the biggest things happening in the UN in New York and things of growing interest over the last couple years," Kubicek said. Other committee topics include the continuing problem in the Middle East, policies of apartheid in South Africa, internal reform of the UN, international drug control, conservation and ecology, accoridng to Kubicek. The ninth issue of Chinese representation will come from the floor of the General Assembly, he said. Four outstanding delegates and five delegations from UNL will by chosen by the student committee chairmen to go to the February Midwest Model UN in St. Louis, Coleen Harper, coordinator, said. "This is a more professional conference with delegates coming from all over the country," she said. Three hundred students are participating in the Model UN, Harper said. About 50 of these are from Lincoln high schools and other midwestern colleges. (fii(Dbfrsta(n) ads FOR SALE neai-rprinb... (doilu ftC&rasHc&s ore . Jnewrrarnr!) Fiberglass tkls, 195 cm.
