PURCHASED
'ii
Gay Action roup
' . . .... t t ii Oollmnvpr the Lincoln
member who had participated
in a costume contest ana
pulled his wig off, sources
reported.
After additional people
arrived at the restaurant, a
group of 20-25 decided to
approach the person and ask
why he had "assaulted" the
individual and continued to
make "obscene comments."
Accoring to those present,
the person "evidently felt
threatened by our presence"
and picked up a table knife after
someone asked, "How would
you like to pull our wigs off?
The person then,
reportedly, threatened physical
harm to an 1 8-year-old girl and
an unidentified man.
IT WAS NOT until after the
incident, which caused the
night manager of the restaurant
to ask the gay patrons to leave
and "never come back," that a
report was filed with the police
by those "assaulted."
"As far as I know, the
police haven't contacted
anyone," Doug Weiss, group
chairman, said.
"They don't have much to
go on," Weiss admitted. "They
are not being effective as a law
enforcement agency."

pornographic.
Koefoot said, "Twice during the past three months this Board
has been confronted with highly controversial matters growing
out of the use of student fees collected by the Board and spent
by various student groups. It is my opinion that some changes are
necessary."
THE MOTION WAS passed by a 7-1 vote with Regent hdward
Schwartzkopf of Lincoln voting no.
"If the intent of the resolution was to censure student
programs and conferences, then it's in direct violation of the
1968 Student in the Academic Community Report approved by
the Regents," Coyle said.
Although the Regents have the right to cut off student fees,
"They in no way have the right to censure freedom of speech. If
that's the intent of the resolution, I'd like to get that into the
open and deal with that."
Dennis Berkheim, chairman of World in Revolution
Conference, said Sunday the Regents' action "must be directed
to the World in Revolution Conference and student control of
student funds and activities." The World in Revolution
Conference, which is planning to bring some radical speakers to
campus, is supported with student fees by ASUN and the
Nebraska Union Program Council.
"We in programing have followed all established procedures
iaid out by the Regents and have followed the advice of all the
campus officials in planing the conference," Berkheim said.
"And now we find the established procedures , are terminated.

Lowell Sellmeyer, the Lincoln
police are investigating the
incident. He declined to
comment further on the course
of the investigation.
When one of the individuals
approached the police about
the incident, he reportedly had
to volunteer a description of
the "assailant" because the
interviewing officer's questions
"were so vague."
In a related incident, after
leaving the restaurant three
UN-GAG members who had
participated in the costume
contest were stopped by
Lincoln police and asked to
come to the station.
THE INDIVIDUALS
reported that the police
informed them it was "against
the law" for men to dress in
clothing of the opposite sex.
The people involved told the
police that they had just come
from a costume party and felt
they were not breaking any
city ordinances against cross
dressing.
The three men were
photographed individually and
as a group with two other
individuals who had
accompanied them to the
police station. They were then
released without charges being
filed.
