Prof. Of Philosophy Nelson Potter is pleased with the results of a free-floating student discussion in Centennial College recently of his proposed Council of the Arts. Potter said administrators and faculty dominated his first meeting earlier in the semester. The students talked a little more freely among themselves at the lounge, he said. He said faculty and administrators have a different view point i than students and it is important to encourage student input. Potter said a lot of ideas were thrown into the discussion and a lot of enthusiasm was in the air among the 35 students present. He said the students agreed to meet again at Heppner lounge on Oct. 11 to discuss the council further. "I suspect there will be greater contribution by students on Oct. 14 when students and faculty meet again", he said. "The feeling came up that President Varner supports the arts and if we come up with something good, lots of people will listen to us at the top", said Potter. Potter said UNO is ahead of UNL in forming an arts council. The Omaha campus has already created a paid half-time position for someone to study an arts council formation there.
