The winner of an October
Nebraska Easter Seal Society
raffle will own Nebraska's
Memorial Stadium for the
Colorado-Nebraska football
game Oct. 30.
According to UNL Easter
Seal volunteers Tom McCown
and Laurel Gerlach, the winner
will get two tickets to that
game, a football autographed
by the Cornhusker players and
coaches, and may get to meet
the team.
The Nebraska Easter Seal
Society says it will use the
money obtained from the sale
of the $1 raffle tickets to help
build a new resident camp near
Seward for handicapped
children and adults.
McCown says it's a good
community program since the
money is going to be spent in
Nebraska. He said tickets are
being sold state-wide.
The Society says it has used
temporary camp facilities for
the past four years that were
built for people who can walk
up long flights of stairs, who
are not creatlv inconvenienced

He said he believes Nebraska citizens
should strive for a good library because 1)
direct services like the Regional Library
centers allow out-state residents to get books
from the library in Lincoln, 2) "when a state
puts money in its educational system at any
level, it stands, to gain a great deal," and 3)

Howard Norland, assoc. professor of
English at UNL and chairman of the Faculty
Senate Library Committee said he is
"delighted" with the students' gesture.
"It may dramatize to the state that this is
truly a Nebraska resource and the only
research library in the state," he said.
Norland said he acknowledges that public
citizens often dislike research activities at
Universities but pointed out that seven of
the nine wheat varieties grown in Nebraska
were developed at the University

will be on sale for the next
four weeks from a booth in the
Nebraska Union. He said the
booth will be open on
Thursday and Friday before
