(Jraduate programs on the
UNL, UNO and Medical Center
campuses of the University are
being integrated into one
closely coordinated program
this year, even though a special
study committee advised the
Regents to segregate them.
In their August meeting in
ScottsbluH the Regents took
Pres. I) . B . Varncr's
recommendations to
consolidate over the special
Nurnberger Committee's
recommendations to separate.

l.xeculive (iraduate Dean
Norman Cromwell, is to make
maximum use of existing
facilities on the three
campuses.

each campus will continue to

autonomy, but feel a
cooperative arrangement
between the campuses will be
the most effective course at

University is still in the process
of developing, as are most
other institutions tending
toward a cooperative system of
graduate study.
Only in situations like
California University's, where
each campus has grown about
as much as possible, is a
completely autonomous
system beneficial.

Nebraska faces limited funding

through a cooperative program

Cromwell said.
The need for more ef ficiency
on a lower budget has
prompted other changes in the
graduate programs. One is the
elimination of three Ph.D.
programs.
