NU consolidates grad programs (Jraduate programs on the UNL, UNO and Medical Center campuses of the University are being integrated into one closely coordinated program this year, even though a special study committee advised the Regents to segregate them. In their August meeting in ScottsbluH the Regents took Pres. I) . B . Varncr's recommendations to consolidate over the special Nurnberger Committee's recommendations to separate. The idea, according to l.xeculive (iraduate Dean Norman Cromwell, is to make maximum use of existing facilities on the three campuses. "The unique capabilities of each campus will continue to be stressed," he said. "We will try to maintain some degree of autonomy, but feel a cooperative arrangement between the campuses will be the most effective course at this time." Cromwell said the University is still in the process of developing, as are most other institutions tending toward a cooperative system of graduate study. Only in situations like California University's, where each campus has grown about as much as possible, is a completely autonomous system beneficial.
