Hyde Pork Thursday's session of Hvde Park the open forum for discussion, again dipped into many subjects but the most lengthy topic was the racial problem in America and particularly on the UNL campus. The subject was kicked off by Jerome Drakeford, a black student who asked the audience why events like the recent prison revolt and subsequent death of many prisoners at Attica State Prison occurs in the ' U.S. After several white students had voiced their opinions of the race situation in America, the consensus seemed to be that racism is definitely present in America. It was suggested that whie students are generally apathetic and concern themselves less with the equality of their fellow man than with more trivial matters such as the recently enacted bicycle ordiance, which was briefly discussed. Drakeford persisted in his discussion of the white racist society citing the higher number of black prisoners, stating that blacks had actually begun many of the movements which white students involve themselves in, and pointing out the low FOR SALE" 1968 VW, excellent condition, 23,000 miles, AM FM radio, air, 475 0749, 435 6225. 1964 Impala SS 327 Factory air automatic, good tires, must sell to cover tuition and other expenses. Last year, he said , the University had the lowest percentage of black students in the United States. An unidentified black man berated the black students, however, telling them they were playing the white man's game. Earlier in the afternoon Charley Dalrymple had suggested a bike-in to protest the recent City Council ruling which allows the council to regulate bike traffic on major traffic routes. Ed Anson suggested that a bike-in is "sort of crude" and more imaginative forms of protest might be found if they become necessary. A dorm resident briefly protested the rejection of the dorm visitation policy which has been proposed. He pointed to statistics from a questionnaire which indicated that a majority of the respondents favored the open dorm policy. Before the major portion of the discussion began, the Union lobby crowd was treated to a piano rendition of "The Little White Cloud That Cried."
