But Jamail hasn't had much more than calisthenics to get excited about during his varsity career. Jamail, a center, had the misfortune of attending Nebraska the same time as Doug Dumler and has been playing second best since the two started their varsity careers in 1970. Saturday against Minnesota, however, Jamail can look beyond warm-ups. He's the probable starting center against the Gophers because Dumler's foot hasn't recovered from an injury sustained against Oregon. And now you should hear Jamail chatter. "It's a different deal being a starter," admitted Jamail. "I didn't realize how much more work and time it invobs. You have to look at nore fi'ms and NU soccer visits Omaha The University of Nebraska soccer team, which won its opener against York Saturday, visits Omaha Martinizing Sunday at 1 p.m. Six games have been scheduled at home. "The battle was already over when I went into games last year," said Jamail. "I have to get used to the idea that the man across from me will be just as fresh as I am." Jamail, who claims to be a member of the All-Armenian football team, is the smallest center on the Nebraska squad He weights just 204 and stands only 5-M. Minnesota middle guard Clayton Scheuer, who will be opposing Jamail Saturday, will have a 50-pound advantage. "Those hie cuvs don't rcii scare me," said Jamail. "I Jamail. ..the chatter man played against that guy at Minnesota last year and was able to handle him. I feel I'm quicker than he is and I'll get a lot of help from our guards." The Bellaire, Tex., native is looking forward to his first starting job. i naturally feel a little extra pressure," said Jamail. "And Dumler's a tough person to try and follow, but I'm not too worried about making mistakes. No team is better than its weakest player and 1 think that's what gives us a chance to win the big one again this year." Dumler, who head coach Bob Devaney says would have to make a big improvement on his foot before being ready for Saturday, isn't the only Cornhusker doubtful. Linebacker Bill Sloev appears out of the picture for Saturday and Jerry List although improving is still considered a doubtful. Sloey injured his knee against Oregon and List sustained bruised ribs. Jim Branch, a 203-pounder from Chicago, will take Sloey's place and Bruce Hauge is also available. If List is unable to play, he'll be spelled by sophomore Brent Longwell from Homer who caught two passes for 1 9 yards against the Ducks. Devaney indicated that Bill Olds and Maury Damkroger are battling for the starting fullback job, and Olds appears to still have the edge. Devaney said there would probably be no other changes from last week for the Minnesota game. 4722588 472-2989 472-2590 FOR SALE Ushers Gifts. Cliffs Smoke Shan 12m & O Streets. Motorcycle chroming.
