The nine-part series is a showcase for popular music and musicians. Each week one outstanding performer is featured in a half-hour, uninterrupted color concert. Following King on the series will be Roger Kellaway, Roberta Flack, Kris Kristofferson, Odetta, the Sir Douglas Quintet, Tim Buckley. Lightnin' Hopkins and Ramblin Jack Elliott. Dividend Bsdsd Gas va mim ciose - flock Series Premieres on EMETY Although he has only recently come into prominence as a soio recording artist, King's basic blues guitar style has influenced many of the popular white blues guitarists-including Eric Clapton and Mike Bloomfield-who began to appear on the music scene around 1968 King's story is fairly typical-the black musician who became known long after white musicians had adapted his work and capitalized on it. Until the last few months Freddie King, 38, has remained in the shadows. Tom Zito, rock critic for the Washington Post, Stations feels that Freddie has had the feels that Freddie has had the most profound effect on rock music. He cites King's "Hideaway Blues" as an album that is often imitated but rarely equalled. Another musical program features American music this week when "American Odyssey: Ole Colony Days" is braodcast Sunday, August 1 at 9 p.m. on the color series "Fanfare." The dreams that founded a nation are musically recreated by prominent folk artists Oscar Brand, Theodore Bikel, Norman Kennedy, Jean Ritchie and the Beers Family in concert at Williamsburg, Virginia. The musical pilgrimage through U.S. colonial history depicts the determination, vigor and traditions of "Ole Colony Days." A special program of special interest to concerned citizens and local county and city government officials will be broadcast four Wednesdays in August beginning August 4 at 7:30 p.m. "TV Town Meeting" will focus on the goals and planning for the future of Lincoln and Lancaster County.
