Fusopit Review by PATTY CULVER The Owl and the Pussycat has the plot of so many movies of today- boy meets girl; girl seduces him and they fall in love. The producers, in their attempt to make it unique, did add a few different twists to the story. The leading lady, played by Barbra Streisand, is a slut with long fingernails and scant costumes and her male counterpart is a down-and-out author, George Segal, struggling for existence in the cruel world of New York. The show attempts to make comments on life in the heart of the large cities, such as Felix's (Segal) attempts to get help when he is locked out of his apartment, his neighbors and landlord being so helpful. THE ACTING was sufficient, although I have seen both Segal and Streisand in much better performances. Streisand's performance consisted of much yelling and finger waving and Segal was a confused author with one (or was that two) costumes and an abundance of large words. The transitions between moods and reactions were undeveloped and very uncertain. Felix goes into a fit of hysteria or the two of them share a "joint" without any preparation. It looked like they wanted to shorten the picture, so they cut out the transition scenes and lines. The show is certainly a PAGE 12 " : T 7" j SlYtTHf F4MHV STONE j b.Iiiii..i.iiIiiim.iii KrairPV .1 WIS JOIM IN M ( hnstnO- GREATEST HITS I 0 .t . It will be a past position to see her stripping before the camera and partaking in a scene that is more than suggestive. THE SHOW did have several amusing ideas and scenes in it as Doris encounters various old men trying to be sexy and she and Felix are caught bathing in his fiance's private bathtub. The show didn't get boring as each scene had something different happening and a development of the characters. The technical quality of the film was far from the best. The film was scratchy and the viewer had the feeling that he needed his glasses changed as . . . Segal and Streisand. the picture was slightly out of focus most of the time. The scene changes were too abrupt in many places and the lighting was unnatural in many of the scenes. This viewer enjoyed parts of the story and managed to stay awake, but would not go back to see it again. With a re-write of the script, the story could be amusing and interesting.
