Two men get prison terms for Unwn bombing j Vacation
iooooofii'irn,T1Trrippr'r"uMM1
Two men have been
sentenced to 1-2 year terms in
the Nebraska Penal Complex in
connection with the fire
bombing of the Nebraska
Union last May.
Jeffrey C. Gunkel, 19, also
known as Jeffrey C. Miller,
2444 P, and Robert N.
Buchsbaum,. 19, were
sentenced by Lancaster District
Court Judge Elmer M. Scheele.
The two had previously
pleaded no contest to felony
charges of malicious
destruction of property in
connection with the May 13
fire bomging. The bombing
followed last May's anti-war
protests on the NU campus.
According to court records,
the two said the sentences
would be appealed.
Police reports at the time of
the incident say University of
Nebraska Campus police found
a fire in a room on the south
side of the building after they
noticed a flash inside. Two
men had been observed
running from the scene but
could not then be
apprehended.
Damage, at the time was
estimated at $3,500 but the
complaints charged the pair
with doing damage "in excess
of $100."
