Jeffrey C. Gunkel, 19, also known as Jeffrey C. Miller, 2444 P, and Robert N. Buchsbaum,. 19, were sentenced by Lancaster District Court Judge Elmer M. Scheele. The two had previously pleaded no contest to felony charges of malicious destruction of property in connection with the May 13 fire bomging. The bombing followed last May's anti-war protests on the NU campus. According to court records, the two said the sentences would be appealed. Police reports at the time of the incident say University of Nebraska Campus police found a fire in a room on the south side of the building after they noticed a flash inside. Two men had been observed running from the scene but could not then be apprehended. Damage, at the time was estimated at $3,500 but the complaints charged the pair with doing damage "in excess of $100." WSMT ADS HELP WANTED PART TIME! Gunkel was arrested in May, following an investigation of the incident. Buchsbaum was arrested on a federal warrant in Pennsylvania and arraigned in August. County delays The Brown Brothers hearings Preliminary hearings for eight of nine persons charged with conspiracy to bomb the State Capital, the Lincoln Police Department and the Brunswick Corp. have been delayed several weeks. The hearings, originally scheduled for this week, will now be held April 21, according to Paul Douglas, Lancaster County Attorney.
