Youth program may gain $2000 from AUF drive This year's All University Fund (AUF) Faculty Drive hopes to raise $2,000 to help children from broken homes and welfare families afford recreation, counseling and guidance at a YMCA or YWCA. The drive will continue through April 9. The money will go to the YMCA Youth Subsidy Fund, which last year provided memberships to 168 children, ages 8 to 15. The program is a series of scheduled group lessons in activities like and competitive league sports. AUF is the only organization on campus authorized to solicit funds for charity from faculty and students. The proceeds of its drives are traditionally donated to a local charity. Contributions for the Faculty Drive may be mailed to the All University Fund, Nebraska Union. The Student Y used to be the campus YWCA, a service organization. Now the group will work more in the community to bring about social change. In the past year Student Y has provided advisers to girls' clubs, big sisters in juvenile courts, and volunteers for Headstart. Next year the organization will conduct a National Coalition for Native Americans to educate whites about the American Indian and to raise money for Indians. They have also planned a freshman orientation weekend next fall. Programs on drugs, women's liberation, the gay liberation, racism and family planning are also being considered. According to Ellen Mintzmyer, president of Student Y, many good programs are sponsored by the group but because of lack of publicity few students are aware of them. This spring Student Y is sponsoring an International Fair with 1 5 students from the United States and 15 foreign students participating in informal rap sessions and encounter groups. Student Y is also planning a sex fair April 6-7. Representatives of the Family Planning Center and the National Planned Parenthood will conduct rap sessions with residentsof the living units on campus. Interviews for executive positions on the Student Y board will be March 31 from 4-6 p.m. in the Nebraska Union.
