University to host
teaching exams
The University has been
designated as a test center for
administering the National
Teacher Examinations on April
3, according to Lee DeJonge,
director of teacher placement.
College seniors preparing to
teach and teachers applying for
positions in school systems
which require scores on the
National Teacher Examinations
are eligible to take the tests.
At the one-day session, a
candidate may take the
Common Examinations, which
include tests in Professional
Education and General
Education, and one of the 24
Teaching Area Examinations,
which are designed to evaluate
his understanding of the
subject matter and methods
applicable to the area me may
be assigned to.
More information is
available at the Teacher
Placement Office.

Wednesday budget meeting
leaves problems unresolved
The controversy over the
University's budget appears
unresolved after a Wednesday

Gov. J. J. Exon's office.
NOTING THAT MANY of
the details of the budget were
discussed Wednesday, Varner
said there "were some areas of
agreement and some areas of
disagreement."
Exon said the meeting had
been useful to all participants
in "sorting out facts and
figures."
The Governor had suggested
the informal private conference
in an effort to reach some
agreement on University needs
and to resolve any differences
over fiscal facts which have led
to wide differences between
the University's request and
