The Model UN program has grown substantially in the last few years. In 1969 there were 45 delegations as opposed to this last year when there were 70 delegations. Coleen Harper, chairman of the UN committee, credits the increase in student interest to better publicity. By going to the different living units on-campus students were made more aware of the educational and practical benefits the Model UN program offered. According to Harper, next year's Model UN promises to be even better. A library will be set up in the Nebraska Union for the delegates to obtain periodicals, copies of the UN charter and material from embassies. Free University courses will be offered to familiarize students on parliamentary procedure and timely information about the different countries. Applications are now available in the Union Program office for next year's staff. Staff positions include committee chairman, rapporteurs, (advisers on substantive issues), parliamentarians and a president of the General Assembly. Interviews will be April 1 hep LINE . Students help pay $50,000 bill for former freshman About a dozen students are organizing a fund drive to help pay for medical costs of former university freshman Gary Koepke. Koepke, one of ten children from a rural Pierce, Nebraska, family, is receiving treatment in Omaha for Hodgkin's disease. The disease is characterized by enlargement and inflamation of the lymph nodes and can be combatted only through heavy treatment of cobalt radiation. Mary Terwilliger, a freshman from Bellevue, and one of the organizers of the drive, said that the final cost of his treatment might well exceed $50,000. "When we asked his parents if we could use his name for the drive, they were amazed that anyone would be concerned with their problem," she said. Part of the family's difficulty results from the expenses incurred while the mother went through five years of medical treatment. Koepke, also has a brother attending the University; a sister who is studying medicine and another brother who is studying to enter the clergy.
