    Corehnskers ran for I7t
fa win
Nebraska handed Joe Cipriano his
second winningest season as a
Cornhusker coach with an 87-71 win
over Kansas State at the Coliseum
Tuesday night.
And the win, Nebraska's 17th of
the season, was in the same fashion
that Cipriano's 1965-66 club rattled
off a 20-5 mark. The Huskers were
running.
"The running game helped us quite
a little," said Cipriano. "It changed the
tempo of the game."
The Huskers started their running
midway through the first half and
took a 45-35 halftime lead. But in the
second half, Nebraska blended its
board strength with its running and
took complete control of the game.
Nebraska's Chuck Jura, who scored
12 points in the second half, tallied
the first eight Husker points in the last
20 minutes and Nebraska took a big
53-39 cushion-

Rebounding continued to help the
Huskers in the second half. Kansas
State outrebounded Nebraska by 1 0 in
the opening half, but the Huskers
fought back to rule the boards by nine
in the closing 20 minutes.
"We had much better board play in
the second half," said Cipriano. "It
really paid off."
Marvin Stewart, who scored 30
points against Missouri, Saturday,
netted 21 Tuesday to lead all scorers.
The Cornhusker candidate for all-Big
Eight hit eight fielders and added five
of six tosses from the free throw line.
Kansas State, the defending Big
Eight champ, was led by Ernie
Kusnyer's 20 points
and Steve
