HORROR IN LITERATURE AND THE
LITERATURE OF HORROR
LEADER: John Wagstaffe
The course will be an attempt to examine some of the
major writings in the so-cailed "minor" field of horror
literature, and to trace the recurrence of horror themes
in the works of "major" writers. It might be useful for
registrants to attempt to get a copy of Dracula by Bram
Stoker as soon as possible.

A look at rock lyrics as the embodiment of social
criticism: the nature of discontent, alternatives to the
discontent, and the calm after the discontent.

OBJECTION AND YOU
LEADER: Ron Kurtenbach
The course will provide information concerning the
conscientious objection position. We could discuss
procedures that ought to be used to get l-O, the l-A-0
CO classifications. Hopefully we would seriously discuss
a variety of implications involved in conscientious
objection. We could be witty too.

BLACK-WHITE COMMUNICATION
LEADER: Haze Pope
Students will be introduced to the factors effecting
successful communication between blacks and whites.
Discussions will center around the dynamics of social
attitudes, values, and cultural language differences as
they effect communication between blacks and whites.
Course will attempt analysis of some of the problems
and explore possible solutions.

CULTURAL-SEXUAL ROLES IN
CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY
LEADER: Patti Kaminski
This course will be a critical and also subjective
examination of how we perceive our sexual identities.
We shall try to discover the extent to which perceptions
of our sexual identities pervade our life styles and ways
of thinking. I will organize a speaker (or speakers) for
each Sunday night to talk about a specific topic. An
effort will be made to keep the application personal and
relevant by asking persons from the University or
Lincoln community. Topics that we might examine are
women in religion, the Greek system, sexual identities in
the New Left, the media image (we could make plans to
see a local show and then discuss it), acquisition of sex
roles in childhood, sexual images in the gay movement,
women in professions and psychological counseling for
men and women. This should give you an idea of the
exciting, and I think very important types of subjects we
can explore.
Because each topic will be complete in itself and the
meeting place will be regular, I urge anyone to come
whenver they can. I will begin the course with a critique
of authoress, Kate Milett and her book Sexual Politics.
Millett will be here on campus Tuesday, March 2, and it
will be worthwhile to examine her "theory of sexual
politics" and various book reviews she has received.

A look at underground newspapers, their contents and
methods; discussion of their performance, their role in
American journalism, their similarities and differences
compared with the overground press.

THE NATURE AND ROLE OF
FRATERNITIES ON CAMPUS
LEADER: JoeZannini
Seminar on fraternity. Open to all students, both Greeks
and non-Greeks to discuss, explore, and research and
nature and role of fraternities on a modern university
campus. Some topics for discussion include: the ideal
fraternity , the nature of anti-Greek feelings, the
relevance of the fraternity to the changing university
student, and the identity of today's college student.
Each participant should be prepared to lead a discussion
on an area of his choice, and to complete reading
assignments prior to discussions.

The course will lay heavy stress on actual play and
formal and informal group discussions. Topics to be
covered are: an introduction to contract bridge (this will
be optional for those familair with the game), an
introduction to duplicate bridge, the strategy of
duplicate bridge, and master pairs bridge
