Cupid's sharp arrow strikes vocal chords (Sung to the tune of "Jingle Bells") Valentine, Valentine, love has come your way Open up and let us in We have come to say You 're the one, ain 't that fun Name chose today Kisses, hugs, slaps, and slugs Are sent to you - hurray! Tired of sending Valentines and giving candy? The members of Alpha Xi Delta have an alternative to the tradition, for 25 they will sing a valentine to your loved one providing your sweetheart lives in Lincoln or can be reached by telephone. Four years ago the sorority also sent Singing Valentines as a fund raising project. This year the money will be used to help support a Sioux Indian child from South Dakota. When asked about the quality of the singers, Kathy Little, an Alpha Xi pledge participating in the singing project, said she hopes the singing Valentines will be drowned out by the laughter of the recipient. Circle K helps buy kidney machine A $4,000 kidney dialysis machine for the University Hospital in Omaha has been purchased with funds raised partially through efforts of the East Campus Circle K Club. Through cooperation of General Mills the machine was purchased through redemption of thousands of Betty Crocker coupons. Jerry Dolesh, Circle K Club secretary, reported the club answered an advertisement asking for help. Boxes were distributed to various grocery stores for collection of the coupons. The club, one of the smallest service organizations on campus, picked them up early in January and set about preparing them for mailing to Chicago for verification. The machine functions as a human kidney transplant for an ailing person awaiting a kidney transplant. An additional problem has arisen in that the kidney machine cannot operate using Omaha's water. It must first be treated by a water softener, costing $1,200.
