ETV ' presents With J. J. Simpson, running back for the Buffalo Bills, as a guest commentator one might expect a sports program rather than one concerningidrug abuse. But that is not the case as Nebraska Educational Television Network presents "The Turned on Crisis", a series of eight hour-long programs in February covering all facets of the drug abuse problem. David Susskind, O. J. Simpson, Big Brother and the Holuing Company, U. S. One of the program's aims is to educate people about drugs and to show the importance of communication and understanding between the addict and his family. "Because That's My Way", the first of the eight programs, was shown on KUON-TV Monday night and will be shown again Friday. The show is a one-hour synopsis of a 16-hour encounter session involving ten individuals, Feb. 3rd Thursday, Feb. 4th Balfour College Ring Specialist will assist you in ordering. STORE. The second program, "The First Dimension-Information and Understanding", to be shown Wednesday at 6 p.m. is hosted by O. J. Simpson. It presents information and attitudes about drugs. Film segments showing pressures which aggravate the problem and a "rap" session with young people, led by Emmy-Award winning star of "Room 222" Denise Nicholas, are shown. In a series of related vignettes, citizens of a small community portray characters like themselves and dramatize from actual case histories about related issues. ''The Shade of a Toothpick", fourth in the series, is concerned with exploring efforts and attitudes toward prevention of drug abuse. I Former Hell's Angel and ex-addict Jack Hurst, a member of the Synanon community, a drug rehabilitation center, appears on "To Keep It You Have To Give It Away", the fifth program in the series. This hour is devoted to exploring different approaches xto drug abuse rehabilitation in various areas of the nation. A play, showing the experiences and life style of an addict, the drying-out process and his rehabilitation is preformed for viewers in "The Concept", another hour-long special. Eight members of Daytop, a rehabilitation center, act out this drams "Why Can't You Hear Through The Noise In Your Ear?" is a session for adults, aimed at showing them that meaning is communicated through noise. Discussions try to point up the positive values of rock music.
