ASUN approves
voluntary PACE
proposal
ASUN will submit a modified
PACE proposal to the Regents
in February.
In an unusually lengthy
meeting Wednesday the Senate
approved Sen. Karen Hutt's
proposal for a voluntary PACE
program. The resolution still
calls for low-income student
scholarships to be financed by
increased student fees, but will
allow students to get a refund if
they do not want to contribute
to the PACE fund. PACE
representatives said the change
was a result of the petition
drive.
The Senate also decided to
request immunity from
University sanctions for
witnesses who testify in the
Rozman hearings. It does not
apply to city, state or federal
action.
ASUN will also ask the
Regents to give "a substantive
reply' to the report of the stu
dent senate's Ad Hoc Davis
Investigation Committee.
They will further suggest that
the Board meet with the com
mittee and press.
Finally, the Senate almost
unanimously passed Sen. Bruce
Wimmcr's resolution to con
gratulate the football team for
an undefeated reason, Orange
Bowl win and number one
ranking.
