Nebraska coach Bob
Devaney would like to see Lynn
Dickey spending a lot of time
on his back Saturday. He ad
mitted that.
"But that's hard to do," con
tinued Devaney. "We'll need a
good pass rush against Kansas
State and it must come from
individual efforts."

And the Husker coach Is
speaking from past experience.
It was against Iowa State last
Saturday that a blitz backfired
on the Huskers.
Cyclone quarterback Dean
Carlson simply dumped the ball
over the middle to Jock
Johnson for a long gainer when
the Nebraska defenders applied
extra pressure.
"Kansas State has a drop
back passing game like Iowa
State, quipped Devaney.

Wildcat Coach Gibson:
bowl
may
Nebraska coach Bob Devan
ey Tuesday called Vince Gib
son's comments concerning of
ficiating in the Nebraska-Kansas
State game ill-advised.
Gibson, the Wildcats head
coach, wondered if his team
would receive a fair shake
from officials in Saturday's
Big Eight showdown with Ne
braska. "One. thing that might be a
handicap is this:" quipped Gib
son. "We can't go to a bowl
Offensive season
breaks record
It was billed the year of the
offense at Nebraska. And the
offense proved the billing right
during the first nine games.
The Cornhuskers established
an all-time season scoring rec
ord Saturday. The Huskers 54
point performance against
Iowa State pushed the season
total to 330 points.
That breaks the record of
323 points set back in 1907.
THE NEBRASKAN
and if you rush too many men
he'll just dump the ball"
Although the Wildcats have
based their offense around
passing this season (they've
collected 1,950 yards in the
air), their running attack can
not be overlooked.
"Their running game has
been improving all the time,"
pointed out Devaney. "They
were one of the lowest rushing
teams in the league earlier in
the year, but they've been
talking about establishing a
bias officials
game. Nebraska can. It's just
a matter of which one. I just
wonder, in the back of our
minds and in the back of their
minds, how the officials feel
about that."
Kansas State cannot accept
a bowl bid because of a three
year probation administrated
by the Big Eight and the
NCAA.
"I'd say Gibson was ill-advised,"
said Devaney. "It's
bad enough to get on the offi
cials after the game, but I
don't think it's fair to put pres
sure on the officials even be
fore the game starts."
A Kansas State spokesman
says Gibson has been "upset"
by several of the officials calls
in the past two weeks.

"A BEAUTIFUL AND ENGROSSING FILM.
NOTHING SHORT OF MASTERLY. PURE
PLEASURE. Fascinating story of the sensitive and sen

remarkable talent. She blends the rebelliousness and
romanticism of girlhood with the conviction and imag

"A finely made film. All the details delight -the finely
etched portrait of the quiet renegade girl, played with
erotic daydreams in her eyes by Joanna Shimkus; Franco
Nero's snake-eyed gypsy, all purpose and passion."
"No story-and no film-better reveals Lawrence's moral
absolutism than The Virgin and the Gypsy. Between
its boundaries is sown the seed of the Lawrentian canon
-the familial conventions, the social hypocrisies, the
annealing force of sex. An exemplary cast."

Devaney called Wildcat run

"one of the better backs in the
Big Eight." Montgomery is the
