The discussion sessions will be held in the Nebraska Union and in several living units on campus and will be open to the public. This phase of student involvement is important because it gives the individual student a chance to express his views, Alexander said. "There will be no particular planned format for discussion," he said, "and it is hoped that through free interplay of dialogue, everyone will learn." The discussion group meeting with Senator Abraham Ribicoff will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday. The location of this discussion group will be posted on the Union Daily Events Calendar. Robert Theobald will meet with students Monday night in the Union Ballroom following his speech and also at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Harper Hall. A group will meet with Jack Newfield at the Beta Theta Pi House on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Saul Alinsky's discussion group will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Centennial College Commons Room. A supper and discussion group will meet Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Abel Hall with Martin Oppenheimer, and Adam Yarmolinsky will also hold a rap session on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Room 104 of the Law College. This is a chance to get to know each speaker better and discuss specific areas of interest, Alexander said. "In essence what we are attempting to provide through World in Revolution is an opportunity to discuss with leading authorities, the problems of urban America," he said. Conference: a yearly essential The World in Revolution Conference is firmly established as an essential educational activity of the University, according to the co-chairmen of this year's conference. Co-chairman Kerry Winterer said the future of the World in Revolution Con ference is partially dependent on the success of this year's conference. "However," he added, "I have heard nothing but favorable comments from both faculty and students." "We feel that an Intense investigation of a current problem, such as the urban crisis, is an integral part of the learning process," commented Co-Chairman Ron Alexander. Future conferences will probably be structured like this year's conference as a joint effort of ASUN and the Nebraska Union Forums Committee, Winterer said. In addition, Alexander added, the Faculty Convocation Committee has ex pressed an interest in helping plan the speaker program. "Although the final decision-making should remain with the students," he said, "faculty advice is helpful in long range evaluations of the total pro gram." Both co-chairmen expressed a concern for the structural arrangement of future conferences. "We are operating on an antiquated system," Alexander said. He listed a larger staff, a full-time secretary and more equipment as needs for future conferences. "We are operating at capacity right now," Winterer added. "Foremost on the list of future conference needs is a way to incorporate more people to help plan the conferences." After you have the power you can begin to confront the issues. Until that time, it's what we call diaper tactics.
