He defended American
foreign policy toward Latin
America, noting that it has
changed considerably in the
last ten years.
"Our present military aid to
Latin America countries con

of the countries' total military
budget," he said. "Our only
justification for that aid in
Latin America is to help them
establish internal order."
The ambassador justified the
American intervention in the
Dominican Republic several
years ago by saying, "We were

American States because of a
disturbance that seriously ef

there."

Senate studies discipline
In a session characterized by
confusion, the ASUN Senate
Wednesday created a com
mission to study the student
disciplinary system.
One of the goals of the com
mission will be to eliminate
double punishment for a single
offense. Currently, a student
may be punished by both
University and civil authorities
for the same violation.
Another goal of the com
mission will be to insure Con
