There will either be a distinct Lincoln Northeast or
Green Bay, Wis. flavor in the All-University intramural
championship game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the
Coliseum.
Schramm IV meets Theta Xi at the Coliseum Monday
night at 8:30 p.m. for the right to meet the independent
champion Choctaws for the All-University championship.
IF THETA XI makes it to the finals, three former
members of Northeast State championship teams will tangle
in the IM championship.
Wally Winter and Bill Fagler, both starters for Theta
Xi, were standouts on Northeast's 1967 state championship
team. Bill Slaughter, the starting center for the Choctaws,
was a member of the 1967 team and a starter on the
1968 team as Northeast captured back to back state titles.
Schramm IV is led by Green Bay products and Husker
footballers, Jerry Tagge, Jim Anderson, and Dave Mason.
Pat Morell, another starter for Schramm IV, played football
at Lincoln Northeast as a sophomore, before moving to
Wichita, Kan.
THETA XI defeated Kappa Alpha Psi Friday night,
49-39, to advance ti Monday night's semi-final game. The
Theta Xi starters include Winter, Fagler, Bob Boettcher
of Fairmont, Greg Lay of Fremont, and Lee Rohrs of
Johnson.
The Choctaws' starters are Slaughter, Dennis Beckmann
of Wilber and Ron Hartmann, Tom Hellerich and Dick
Hahn, all of Lincoln. Hahn is a graduate student and
a former standout at Nebraska Wesleyan.
