( Therapists get charter A group of students has been organized to help remedy the ailments of the physical therapy majors at the University of Nebraska. Few people realize how difficult it is for a physical therapy student to get into rr" J t f. w graduate school in the midwest, according to Sue Whitmore, president of Nebraska Physical Therapy Students Association. "We have organized to counsel students about graduate schools and to explore all of the areas of physical therapy,' said Mrs. Whitmore, a senior in physical therapy. The Student Association with 2 5 members originally began in 1968 but it just received a national charter and a new constitution, Mrs. Whitmore said. There is a great need for physical therapists in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, research, and coaching positions, she continued. Most high schools are looking for physical therapists when they recruit coaches, she added. And, most college athletic departments employ physical therapists as trainers. Next year NU medical school will ac cept its first ten physical therapy graduate students, which should alleviate some of the problems, Mrs. Whitmore said. The graduate program was started as a result of 1969 Unicameral legislation. It is one of the few such graduate programs in the Midwest. "The legislation was long overdue," Mrs. Whitmore said. "With the availability of federal funds and the assistance of University officials, the legislation wa3 passed." NFU class explores: Agnew, Seven break the law? His Free University course, "Civ'l Liberties in the 1970's, will e examining the nature and ramifications of civil libei ies in the context of the Constitution, he explained. "We'll be discussing legal cases in the last 10-20 years which highlight some of the eternal conflicts between liberty and order," said Stephen, who is president of Nebraska Civil Liberties Union Board. He added that the course will "try to keep removed from contemporary political movements." "Many people believe that since they dislike long hair, it slhould be forbidden. We'll be discussing basic constitutional rights that people should have," the Unitarian minister said. The course will also discuss abortion and censorship laws and their relationship to civil liberties, he said. Patrick Healey, a defending attorney in the recent trial of Chadron State College student, Robert Reichenberg, will be among the course's guest speakers, Stephen noted. Other new courses being of fered this semester include Freedom and Authority, Revolutionary Christianity, Ar ticulation as Absolute, Com munity in Action and Concrete Poetry. .
