Hull, the assistant manager of KUON-TV, first went to Vietnam in 1966, when he helped establish television sta tion THVN for the Saigon government. He hopes TV will provide a thread of national unity for the Vietnamese peo ple. "The government has much more strength than when I was first there," Hull said, "And the country is much more secure now than two years ago." Hull fully supports Nixon's plan to gradually phase out of brags people together no n 6Viets face year of the Vietnam war. He feels the Vietnamese are quickly becoming strong enough to phase the war out themselves. He also thinks the Vietnamese will lean on the United States as long as they are allowed to do so. "As the government becomes stronger, the war is going to gradually dissolve and one day, no one will know where the enemy went," he said. In order to do this, Hull emphasized, the Vietnamese must first develop confidence in themselves. "We are trying to make the Vietnamese people realize they live in a beautiful country with a great past," he said. The Vietnamese have a built in inferiority complex due to the great problems their coun try has, he said. They are despondent over their lack of EM pacy of skirmishes, territorial gains and conquests. And still keep the peace. Just put some Jade East on your face and neck. And anywhere else. If you've got a girlfriend, take her out as planned. If you're seeing a few girls, do whatever it is you're doing. Now comes the best part. Since all girls are different, all reactions will be different. Some will be aggressive. Others, submissive. But whether our policy leads to final agreement or not, one thing's for sure. The negotiations alone will be worth theprica LJAr jade East Make love, not wan Jado East After Shavo and Ron Hull progress and they are trying to determine who they are as a people, he added.. By emphasizing the cultural heritage of the Vietnamese, Hull feels, TV programs can be a unifying factor for the people Cologne, crunch of Vietnam. The three stations which have been built and are operated almost entirely by Vietnamese personnel help in crease their self-confidence. The only remaining areas of American assistance are in the highly complex areas of technical maintenance and by June, 1971, we hope to phase out American help entirely," Hull said. The Vietnamese now realize that if they really want to stop communism they must do it themselves, he said. I'They are as anxious to have us go as we are anxious to go," Hull said. "And they will be happy when it isn't necessary for so many Americans to be there. Hull had a two-fold purpose in going to Vietnam. He worked as an information adviser for the U.S. Information Agency, teaching television production to Vietnamese personnel and he also conducted research for his dissertation on the development of TV for South Vietnam. 'Live-iu' students eat welfare diet Living on a welfare diet will be part of a student live-in at maha's near north side this weekend,, according to Rev, Mel Luetchens, associate minister-director of the Methodist student chapel. The live-in attempts to bring participants to the realization of what it feels like to be black and to live in the ghetto, Luetchens said. Charles Washington, editor of the Omaha Star, a black newspaper, and Father Jack McCaslin of Omaha's Holy Family Parish will probably be among the speakers, Luetchens noted. The students will spend Friday evening, Saturday and most of Sunday in Omaha. They will eat the type and amount of food that welfare receipients normally do, he said. Luetchens said students from ' all denominations may par ticipate by contacting him at the student center. Help Wanted WANTED: Campus representative. Un. limits commission.
