Vibrance added to sportswear Bright and vibrant colors added to mixed textures and new fabric combinations bring a young flavor to the contem porary sportswear world. Coeds will find a wealth of fashion variety In updated shirts, new-looking separate skirts, casual knits in sweater dresses, low-down or belted sweaters or sweater skirts. Sweater dresses are seen in knit shifts as turtlenecks, ribbed knits or patterns such as diamonds and checker boards and in contrast stripes. The shirt look is making a comeback on the campus fashion scene with a body shirt that describes a whole new dimension in fit. It is shaped to the figure, cut high in the armholes and close to the body, with a long, lean, fitted look. Other hallmarks of the new shirt may include hard ware closures, stand-up or long pointed collars and interest ing pocket detail. A new variety in skirt looks includes kilts, dirndls, pleated wrap skirts, flippy all-round pleated skirts, pants skirts, panel front skirts and skirts with side cluster pleats. There are understandable reasons for the popularity of knits because all are engineered specifically to give comfort and a luxury look with a minimum of upkeep. The sweater look is the long, long pullover of Orion acrylic or Wintuk yarns of Orlan and may be belted or un belted. Varying stitches will be seen as the cable knits, rib knits, crochet looks and geometric patterned knits are worn with skirts or pants. Pants must be sleek and straight-legged, or tapered in slightly at the knee to flare out again. They should fit on the hips or below the waistline and should be belted. In accessories, leg fashions set the pace for the best dressed girls. In hosiery the wearer's choice is practically limitless. Colors range from sherbert hues to staccato yel lows, oranges, greens and strong browns. Textures go in ev ery direction from tiny fishnet patterns or ribbed and lacy effects to the wide open windowpanes. Today's new sportswear looks demand the versatility, variety and advantages of today's updated, man-made fi bers. Durable-press, a fiber blend of 65 per cent Dacron poly ester and 35 per cent cotton, is a fabric noted for strength and wear-resistance. Durable-press garments keep their shape with a smoothly perfect press and sharp pleats or creases. It is the Dacron or Orion which adds the important in gredient for the wrinkle resisting, drip-dry washability of the fabrics. 1 $ 9 " ir i 1' f i ,v tiTV ' . - j.x f - -- r '.. , -- i hi -; i..:. . .... . 4 iff.V, L Friday, March 22, 1968 .,fm .A 7? ; It - V 4 " ,sv v f , r .
